How we work
Editorial Standards
Reader compact
Trust is built in the reporting, then maintained in the record.
-
01
Reporting & verification
Claims should be supported by direct observation, primary literature, data, documents, or accountable expert sources. Material uncertainty belongs in the story, not outside it.
-
02
Sources & independence
Sources are identified whenever safety and access allow. Financial or personal conflicts relevant to a story are disclosed, and funders do not review editorial work before publication.
-
03
Corrections & updates
Factual errors are corrected promptly. Material changes receive a dated note explaining what changed; evolving stories are updated without obscuring the original publication record.
-
04
Images, data & tools
Visual evidence is captioned and credited. Data transformations should be reproducible. Writers and editors remain accountable for every published claim regardless of the tools used in research or production.
